Real Estate Practice Advisory Committee

The committee deals with all topical real estate matters where the Law Society as regulator in the public interest may wish to deal with, including any issues arising from the use of the Protocol in Alberta and issues involving the operation of the Land Titles system.

Background:

The Real Estate Practice Advisory Committee has been in existence since 2007. There had been two committees that dealt with real estate matters. The first was the Registries Liaison Committee which dealt with Land Titles issues as well as other Alberta Registries such as Corporate Registry, Personal Property Registry and Vehicle Registry. The second was the Western Law Societies Torrens Protocol Committee which dealt with the implementation of the Protocol in the Province of Alberta. As a result of the widespread adoption of the Protocol by the end of 2006, the two committees were combined to form the Real Estate Practice Advisory Committee.
