Just Works: Lawyers in Alberta, 1907 - 2007
The Law Society of Alberta launched Just Works: Lawyers in Alberta 1907 - 2007, a special commemorative book in honour of 100 years of service in Alberta on October 23, 2007 at the Lougheed House in Calgary.
"Just Works is an opportunity for the Law Society of Alberta to recognize the rich and diverse history of the legal profession," says Jim Peacock, President, Law Society of Alberta.
It is a collection of essays illustrating the vibrant history of law and lawyers in Alberta in honour of the 100th Anniversary of the Law Society of Alberta. This commemorative book is the result of the partnership of the Law Society of Alberta and Legal Archives Society of Alberta. This 100th Anniversary Commemorative book combines superbly written stories with photographs showcasing 100 years of rich and diverse history of the legal profession in Alberta.
"This book was never intended to be a stern and scholarly description of the law itself, nor a methodical catalogue of the legal institutions of the province, nor a biography of the members of the legal profession. Such would be impossible. This book was however, intended to shed some light on all of these things.."
- from the Preface by the Honourable Mr. Justice Jack Watson.
