 Peer Support Program
The practice review department stewards an informal Peer Support Program that matches lawyers with senior lawyers who assist with general aspects of having a law practice in Alberta.
Participation in the Peer Support Program allows lawyers to develop an ongoing relationship with a more experienced member of the profession who has achieved a healthy perspective regarding the practice of law. Practice review believes the practical information shared in these one-on-one relationships is effective in helping lawyers to achieve higher standards of professional conduct and gain knowledge and coping skills.
Practice review has a list of the registered peer supporters with interests and experience in a variety of areas. The peer supporter(s) are matched based on common ground or the lawyer’s need. If the relationship does not work out, the lawyer is free to contact practice review for another possible peer supporter. No committees, no encounter groups and no courses are involved in the process.
• For self-referred peer support, please fill out the Peer Member Application. • As well, please complete the Peer Member and Release Form. • For lawyers wishing to become mentors please fill out the Peer Mentor Application.
Peer support is a pilot program, which is being implemented under the supervision of the practice review committee of LSA.
