Notice of
Disbarment - Mr. Terry L. Britton
On September 11, 2008, a Hearing Committee disbarred Mr. Terry L.
Britton, who resides in Calgary, Alberta, and who practiced in
Calgary until March 31, 2006, when he was suspended by a previous
Hearing Committee in other disciplinary proceedings under the Legal
Profession Act, R.S.A. 2000, c. L-8.
The Hearing Committee found that Mr. Britton’s conduct was
deserving of sanction on three citations in that he failed to comply
with accounting rules, that he failed to cooperate fully with a Law
Society investigation, and that he failed to respond to the Law
Society. Mr. Britton had actual notice but did not appear at the
hearing.
The Hearing Committee ordered that Mr. Britton be disbarred
immediately and pay the actual costs of the hearing estimated to be
in the amount of $4,005.75. As custodial arrangements for Mr.
Britton’s practice are already in place no custodian was appointed.

Notice of
Disbarment - Mr. Charles F. McGee
On September 8, 2008, a Resignation Committee appointed by the
Benchers of the Law Society of Alberta granted the application of
Charles F. McGee to resign, pursuant to Section 61 of the Legal
Profession Act, effective immediately. Mr. McGee is therefore
disbarred.
Mr. McGee resides in Yellowknife, Northwest
Territories and practised in Yellowknife until 2004. He was
suspended pursuant to Section 83(7) of the Legal Profession Act,
effective October 22, 2004. Mr. McGee’s application to resign was
made at a time when he faced proceedings under Part 3 of the Legal
Profession Act, arising from his conviction and sentence to a term
of imprisonment for criminal offences committed in the Northwest
Territories.
The Committee directed that Mr. McGee pay the
actual costs of the proceedings, estimated to be the sum of
$2,289.00, prior to any application for reinstatement. As Mr. McGee
had no practice in Alberta, a custodian was not required.
