Law Society of Alberta's

100th Anniversary Commemorative Stamp

Issued September 13, 2007

The Law Society of Alberta is pleased to announce the unveiling of a special commemorative stamp in honour of 100 years of service in Alberta.

Designed by Xerxes Irani of nonfiction studios inc. the stamp blends a variety of symbols into a snapshot featuring a gavel and a legal library.  Beside the books lies a photograph of James Muir, the Society’s first President, and the Society’s original seals are embedded on the books’ spines.

“We are thrilled that Canada Post has decided to issue a domestic rate stamp in honour of the Law Society of Alberta’s centennial,” says Jim Peacock, Law Society of Alberta president.  “This event is one of a number of opportunities planned to celebrate the rich and diverse history of the legal profession in Alberta. “

The stamp unveiling was held at 12:00 noon at City Hall, in Edmonton, Alberta, on September 13, 2007.
