Archives Help
Welcome to the Law Society of Alberta Website Archives.
Many files not frequently accessed from the LSA’s main website are housed on the Website Archives, as well as Publications, News Releases and Notices more than two years old.
Searching for a File
Menu Categories:
To the left you will see the menu categories as they appear on the Law Society of Alberta main site. All archived files are located in the same area as they are on the main site. For example, issues of The Advisory, the LSA’s newsletter, since 2003 will be found under Publications and Policies. You can search for your document by using these menu categories.
You will also see a menu category called Previous Site Archives. This area houses select documents that appeared on the LSA website, prior to July 2004 when the new website was launched. You can search for a document by scrolling through the menu categories.
Search Box:
Another way to find a document quickly is use the search function located at the top right corner of the page. In the search box, type in the information you are looking for. A list of all related files will appear. Choose which file you are looking for by clicking on it.
Due to the way certain documents were formatted, the search function may produce results that contain jumbled words in amongst clear words. These documents are still viewable and will appear in the correct form.
Reading the Archives
When you have found the information you are looking for, you will see a box at the top right of the screen called Archive Details. Below that , name of the page or document you are viewing will appear. Below that, the Archives Details will tell you how many revisions are available, and a list will appear below that. The list will tell you the version number, and the date that version was created.
You will automatically view the most current archived version. This will be indicated with a 'viewing' icon located to the left of the version number. To view a different version, click on the version number from the list.
Broken Links
From time to time, archived files may contain website links that do not work. Most of these broken links are from the LSA’s old website and cannot be repaired.
